Natalia Alejos
Natalia was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and lived there until she was five years. On December 27, 1987, her family resettled in West Michigan. Natalia earned a Bachelor of Management from Cornerstone University and spent nearly 10 years working for local nonprofits, primarily in fund development roles. Currently, she and her husband own an insurance business in the Holland area.
Natalia learned about Treetops in fall of 2017 and immediately connected with the mission. As someone who resettled in Michigan with limited resources and a lack of English language proficiency, Natalia has an intimate understanding of the challenges refugees face. She hopes to help local refugee women and teens make connections that inspire growth and provide opportunities to achieve their dreams.
Places she has felt welcomed: Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Nassau, United Kingdom, Sweden, Latvia, Russia, and Estonia.
