Nadia Hamad
Nadia Hamad is a graduate of the University of Baghdad in the College of Fine Arts. She began her career in pottery in Iraq but during the war, business crumbled as people were no longer buying art, but focused on means of survival. When she was resettled with her 3 year old son and husband to the US in August of 2013, her family struggled to find opportunity using their educations and gifts. In 2016, through a friendship, Treetops was introduced to Nadia and learned of her skills in sewing and pottery, and immediately got to work creating a line of clothing and curated pottery so that her art could be revived. Her story is one of resilience and hope, her enthusiasm and creativity has renewed our community's imagination as to what joy and life our newest neighbors bring!
