Meet Latifa

Latifa (she/her) is the Collective Care Manager at Treetops.

My love and passion goes hand in hand with anything that involves helping people. When I was the age of 9 my parents took me to study in Uganda. 8 years after I came to the USA. I have spent half of my life time living away from my family, and that has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever made but it turned me into the woman I am today.

My work career passion is working in an involvement that helps new Americans, Refugees, asylees and immigrants. I know how it feels to move to a new country, be away from home and family, learn a new language, and adapt to new culture and food. That's why my heart is with organizations that dedicate time to working with anyone who is experiencing any of that. I do not only do work to get paid, anyone who knows Latifa will describe her as a person who goes far and beyond for her loved ones.

Besides helping, I love cooking, decorating and travelling. I speak Kinyarwanda as my first language, Swahili, Kirundi, Luganda, English, and would love to add French and Spanish to the list.

I value my family the most in everything I do because they have a big impact on who I am today. My biggest dream since I was young is to work for the UN (United Nations), start a Non-Profit Organization, and adopt and raise a child from a country I have never visited before.
