Meet Jess

Jess Alverson is the Social Enterprise Manager at Treetops Collective, where she leads and nurtures the Rooted Together shop. Rooted Together is grounded in the belief that each of us brings something beautiful and worthy of celebration to the world. Though our paths may differ, we are all roots of the same tree — connected, resilient, and stronger together.

With a background in Communications and Theatre, focusing on Theatre in Education and Social Justice, Jess has spent her career creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and welcome. From theatre classrooms and performance venues to nonprofit and community-centered work, she brings both creativity and care to everything she does. As the 'mom' of all Jess is deeply passionate about caring for others — especially women — and supporting people through life’s most meaningful moments. As a birth doula, this commitment shows up in her belief that trust, dignity, and compassion should be at the center of every experience.

Originally from rural West Michigan, Jess spent nearly a decade in St. Louis before the COVID-19 pandemic brought her back home. Returning to Michigan marked not just a change in place, but a reconnection to the values and rhythms that ground her. At Treetops Collective, Jess has found a deep sense of belonging — a community rooted in care, shared purpose, and collective growth. When she’s not at the shop, she’s likely reading, teaching theatre to children at Civic Theatre, or soaking in the quiet magic of a sunset, stargazing around a bonfire under Michigan’s open sky.
