Back Story: SaraJane received her Bachelor's in Elementary and Special Education. Shortly after beginning her teaching career she pursued her certification in English as a Second Language to better support and advocate for the growing population of students in the school district from other countries. During her time working in education she participated in a Teachers for Social Justice group and travelled to Honduras with Heifer International as part of their educator study. She and her husband have three children, all of whom are adopted from Ethiopia. Social justice has always been and has continued to be a passion for SaraJane. Having recently moved to Grand Rapids with her family, she knows firsthand the importance and significance of creating a welcome community.
